By Masters Te Yu and Te Mao
Translated by Steven LinMoral cultivation has to be carried out in action, yet
with inner tranquillity.
Moral cultivation has to be learned in our daily work.
Master Te Ju had just arrived at the Abode of Still Thoughts.
One day she went out to pull the tu-shang weeds.
When Master Cheng Yen saw this, she picked up a shovel and said,
"Do it like this * even the roots must be pulled out."
"So these roots are just like the roots of all our worries," Master Te Ju
thought.
"If you don't uproot them carefully, then 'when the spring breeze blows,
all things will grow again.'"
