STILL THOUGHTS
The Cartoon Version
Translated by E E Ho and W.L. Rathje
Drawings by Tsai Chih-chung; coloring by May E. Gu
The Buddha says:

Everything in this world exists because of its causes and conditions.
We must correctly recognize the causes in order to gain the ideal results.

If you think about doing something good but then you don't go and do it, it's like cultivating a field without sowing any seeds-- it's just a big waste.

If you have seeds of goodness, you must plant them in the ground as soon as the conditions are right. A seed needs enough sunlight, water, soil and air to grow.

You give so much of yourself for all living beings. Aren't you working too hard?

I don't think so, because I work willingly and accept the results joyfully. It is just like mountain climbing: it is hard work, but climbers don't mind. No matter how rugged the mountain is, they enjoy the climb. I have worked for Tzu Chi for over thirty years. Although the progress has sometimes been rocky, I have always felt that it was worth it.
