The main stream of the Tungkang River comes from the Wanan River, flowing down
from the north side of Tawu Mountain. Before 1928, when dikes were built, the
Ailiao River was the main source of the Tungkang. Although the Ailiao has been
diverted, some of its water still flows underground to the Tungkang River.
