STILL THOUGHTS
The Cartoon Version
Translated by E E Ho and W.L. Rathje;
drawings by Tsai Chih-chung; coloring by May E. Gu
The Buddha says:

This world is full of suffering.
Birth is suffering, aging is suffering,
illness is suffering, death is suffering,
leaving loved ones is suffering,
meeting people we dislike is suffering,
not getting what we want is suffering.

In this world, there are so many things we have to bear. We must endure the torments of birth, aging, illness and death. So, we need to focus our attention and investigate...

Where do we come from?
Why do we grow old?
Why do we get sick?
Where do we go after we die?

Only when we understand the causes of suffering can our spirits be free.

Some people say, "Tzu Chi is already very rich, so why do you keep on raising money?"

Instead of saying that Tzu Chi is rich, it would be better to recognize that Tzu Chi has its commitments and credibility. People trust Tzu Chi to do good deeds for them and show their loving-kindness. Tzu Chi still has a lot of work to do and a long way to go. Therefore, Tzu Chi still depends on everybody's participation.
