--Gable Decoration
Decorations on the gables of traditional Chinese buildings serve as lucky mascots. There are different artistic designs for this kind of decoration. Due to the assonance of the Chinese words, bottle gourds ("hu-lu" in Chinese) stand for luck and good fortune ("fu"). Two scrolls are tied together to show that this is a family of scholars.
