The 228 Memorial Peace Park¡@
The 228 Memorial Peace Park, formerly called the Taipei Park, was established in 1908 during the Japanese occupation. Its name was changed in 1996 to memorialize an incident which occurred on February 28, 1947. The incident started when police arrested a woman selling smuggled cigarettes in Taipei. It quickly developed into a bloody conflict between the government and the local people.
This photo shows a Chinese pavilion inside the 228 Memorial Peace Park. Things like steam engines, old cannons, and arches are also displayed inside the park. In addition to the 228 Memorial Museum, the Taiwan Museum, a Greek-style building completed in 1915, is also situated in this park.
