Inoue Inosuke
1882-1966
Humanist

In 1906, aborigines in Hualien, Taiwan, killed Inoue's father. Instead of taking revenge, he came to Taiwan to spread the word of God to the aborigines. He was the only doctor to provide medical care in the secluded aboriginal community. He took care of the tribe who killed his father for as long as three decades, and was given the name Derminan Madoufu ("God Is Weaving") by the aborigines.
