Dr. Chiang Wei-shui
1891-1931
Nationalist Activist
Dr. Chiang opened the Ta-an Hospital, yet finding his rich and prestigious life
meaningless, he devoted himself to the nationalist movement. He wrote an article
in which he diagnosed Taiwan and concluded that its people were inflicted with
"knowledge malnutrition." He donated all his income to the reform
movement, which led to the awakening of intellectuals and the middle class.
