The Siberian weasel

The Siberian weasel measures thirty to fifty centimeters [12-20 in] long. Its habitat ranges from frigid zone coniferous forests and grasslands to tropical forests. The Siberian weasel can be found in mountains, plains, swamps or even villages and cities.

The animal lives in caves under rocks, tree holes or below firewood piles. It moves at night, swift and mysterious, and relies on its sharp nose and ears to search for food. Feeding mainly on rodents, it is able to track them to their nest and slaughter a whole brood. The Siberian weasel also feeds on small birds and their eggs, or hunts along creeks for frogs, insects and fish. Occasionally, it may also prey on poultry.
